With their goal of keeping online classifieds local, simple and (for the most part) free, there’s no question about it; Craigslist has become quite an online phenomenon. Constantly one of the top 50 websites sites visited, this website, for one offering local ads, has attracted literally a worldwide following. However, along with this following Craigslist has attracted a very unsavory element of scammers as well.

Faster, Safer Surfing with OpenDNS

Even with a high-speed Internet connection, you might find that getting to certain Web sites takes a lot longer than you want it to. There are a lot of reasons for this, but one of the bottlenecks is the DNS server that your Internet service provider runs.

You can get around this bottleneck, though, by using a Web-based service called OpenDNS.

Hot Tech Toys - CES 2009 Recap

One more year, one more CES trade show in Las Vegas. Except one particular announcement that made the rounds in the tech blogs, this year most announcements were lower key than in the past, possibly mirroring the shoe-string budget in R&D this past year.

The biggest announcement of them all was Palm’s Pre smartphone. Based on Linux, this new web-enabled Javascript-based platform is coming to challenge the iPhone and Android. The phone was designed by one of the original designers of the iPhone. Its biggest new feature is Synergy, which allows messaging to work transparently with many services, e.g. Facebook, Gmail, IM, SMS, etc. It also supports application multi-tasking, gestures, wireless charging, and it sports a hardware keyboard. Sprint will be the first carrier to sell the phone this Spring.
