  1. Interesting. Also I have read that not shutting off the PC from the socket (kind of stand by as in televisions) also eats lot of energy. That should be avoided too

  5. You’re missing an important concept here. When you replace something in order to be nicer to the planet, you need to dispose of the old thing in a responsible way. That’s nice that you guys are talking about saving electricity, but it’s only a small part of the picture. Electronic components are filled with toxic substances, but they are also quite recyclable.

Read up on it, and find a responsible local recycling center. Don’t throw electronics in the trash!

  7. Saving energy is great but the green movement is horrific fraud. I suggest you read some of these articles online before you start promoting the green movement. Just type in the green movement fraud in your search engine or just copy and paste this link. http://www.google.com/search?q=the+green+movement+fraud&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&client=firefox-a&rlz=1R1GGLL_en___US396
You could really hurt your business buy getting involved in this fraud. It looks harmless on the surface and sounds like the right thing to do but the people behind it are about as corrupt as they come and some.
The last thing in the world I would want to do is go green or support the movement in any way. You may been unaware of this fraud but once you read about it I hope you will do the right thing and it’s not just all about the money you can make selling green products.

  11. One item you didn’t talk about is speakers, get rid of the powered from a transformer plugged into a power strip and get a USB powered set, OR us headsets. Both options use less power

  15. Wish you guys would find/provide a Free Program
that cleans up the Redistry that seems to always
get cluttered with time consuming invalid entries.

Wouldn’t cleaner Registery entries result in less time consumed during power-ups?

  19. Another important green category: Recycling!

A lot of people don’t realize that tossing old laptops or desktop PCs into the trash is a critical ecological mistake. According to the EPA, over two million tons of electronics waste is discarded each year and goes to U.S. landfills.

Along with this, simply tossing used computer equipment and hard disks into dumpsters will leave home computer owners or businesses vulnerable to unscrupulous individuals searching for credit card numbers, social security numbers, and other valuable data.

Almost all areas have at least one location that will accept electronic waste without a fee, some will even pick items up for free. The machines are broken down into basic circuit boards and scrap metal in order to be sorted and sold, or be properly disposed of.

  21. I agree with everything except the battery.  The more a battery is drained and charged, the shorter its life.  For some netbooks, for example, an OEM battery could cost as much as 50% of the entire netbook purchase.  So if we take your advice, we will be getting shorter and shorter and shorter battery life and eventually have to fork out $100 to buy a new battery.  Most experts I see (ZDnet for example) tell us to use the battery only when no AC is available (airplane, church, classroom, etc.)
