Bluetooth technology is nothing new, but in many respects it still seems to be more of a buzz word rather than a well understood, commonly accepted technology.  You see advertisements for Bluetooth enabled cell phones, PDAs, and laptops, and a search of the Computer Geeks website shows all sorts of different devices taking advantage of this wireless standard.  But, what is it?

  1. I am still just as confused as ever on Bluetooth. But what I do understand is this:  If I don’t have a Bluetooth device, I don’t need to get a Bluetooth adapter since there isn’t anything to connect to?  And inorder to “talk” to other Bluetooth devices I need one (that I understand).  So it’s more than a wireless device?

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

  15. I own a laptop with bluetooth built in. Though I’d like very much to use a bluetooth mouse and headphones, it seems I can’t find any seller (including geeks.com) that offers any linux-compatible bluetooth devices. (I don’t use Windoze, ever.)

There is also the matter of battery use, and I cannot find any ratings of bluetooth devices in regards to how well or poorly they handle batteries. I’d hate to buy a mouse or headset that drains the batteries after just several uses!

Considering how *expensive* some bluetooth devices are, it seems hardly worth the risk of a purchase for Linux users.
