How To Turn A Netbook Into A Full Page eReader
So, you have a netbook that you find handy for different computing tasks. Well, with a little effort, you may find it easy to use a netbook as a full page eReader. That’s right, full page - not just a section of a graphic novel on the screen at a time. Plus, being able to view material in full color is something that dedicated eReaders cannot do.

great tip, now I might join the eBook revolution....did not want to buy a single purpose machine, to see if I like the idea… again thanx for the tip
Nice article. EeePC users may find the programs at http://vk.edward.li.googlepages.com/eeerotate useful; they make it easy to rotate both the screen and the touchpad simultaneously, which adds to the usefulness of this tip. Note that both the tip and the software pertain to Windows-based Netbooks, not Linux-based machines.
P.S.—for Xandros Linux-based EeePC Netbooks the procedure is very simple:
1. Hit Ctrl-Alt-T to open a terminal window.
2. In the terminal window type
xrandr -o left and <enter> to rotate left,
xrandr -o right to rotate right,
xrandr -o normal to put things back as they were.
Works like a charm.Since my Asus e900 came with Linux, can you recommend any equivelent programs to do the same?
Great idea, can’t wait to try it out!
Thanks! That sounds so nice. Even I will try.
Active Directory supports multimaster replication of the directory data store between all domain controllers in the domain, so all domain controllers in a domain are essentially peers. However, some changes are impractical to perform in using multimaster replication, so, for each of these types of changes, one domain controller, called the operations master, accepts requests for such changes.
In every forest, there are at least five operations master roles that are assigned to one or more domain controllers. Forest-wide operations master roles must appear only once in every forest. Domain-wide operations master roles must appear once in every domain in the forest.
A netbook as an eReader will be history as soon as the Apple iPad is released. Why on earth would you flip a netbook to read it? Looks uncomfortable and not really designed for reading books. The iPad is a Kindle and netbook killer.
peddu
hostcats.comMy vote’s with the Kindle, peddu. Nothing else I know of comes with -free- lifetime 3G wireless internet access in over 100 countries and it’s a lot easier to read, especially outdoors or under bright lighting, than the iPad. Reading books in greyscale is pretty well accepted (except for comic books, of course) and the Kindle is much easier to carry around.
I’d love an iPad, but not as an ebook reader.
