How to Get Rid of ADWARE and SPYWARE Infections from Your Computer

Does your computer run much slower than when it was new? Does your computer’s monitor fill up with pop-up windows containing advertisements for diet pills, sex aids and lots of other junk? How about changes to your browser settings so your home page changes and will not change back? If you are experiencing one or more of these symptoms, then your computer has probably been infected with malware. If your computer has a super-fast processor, then you might not notice the slow down. However, if you have been using your computer without protection, rest assured it has very likely been compromised with spyware and adware.

You missed one very effective malware detection program that I have found to be the BEST.  I somehow acquired some malware while I was running spybot.  Spybot would not recognize it.  I then tried Ad-Aware (Obviously these are the two most popular out there).  Ad-Aware also did not detect my problem.  I finally came across a program by PC Tools Called Spyware Doctor.  It not only fixed my Malware problem but found 5 other spyware and adware stealth’s that the other two did not detect.  I’ve been using it faithfully ever since.

  11. First of all, I’ve been enjoying your Tech Tips series. It’s always very well done. I must say, however, that this latest issue regarding malware removal, unfortunately, doesn’t relate to the very bad infections.

    You see, I work at Cox Communications in a pay-for-support department and spend most of my day, everyday, removing malware. It is precisely because there isn’t one (or many) programs that can remove the most difficult malware that results in me getting a paycheck every week. Even running Adaware and Spybot won’t remove the nastiest ones. But, what you recommend is definitely good advice for those prudent netizens.

    Others, however, aren’t so fortunate. The really bad ones install themselves as a Winlogon or Explorer hijack, rendering them impervious to scanning and removal engines. Utilizing the Winlogon/Notify key in the registry, aggressive spyware run during the logon process and can only be terminated if the winlogon process is terminated (which usually results in a reboot in XP). Even launching Ad-Aware and Spybot at boot up doesn’t solve this problem. The only way to remedy this is to use HiJackThis in most situations to see what DLL is hijacking the process, then using cacls to deny permissions to the file, rebooting and then removing the file via command line. When a file has everyone:n access, most of the time you can’t delete it via Explorer.exe. In other instances, DLL’s are hijacking explorer via registry entries you need a special utility to see what DLL’s are hijacking the process. Then, and only then, can you deny permissions to the file and delete it.

    I just thought you should know how difficult it can be to completely clean a system. That’s why most shops will recommend a format/reinstall.

  13. I read similar articles more than once… It all makes sense. However I personally suggest people to use two software. An anti adware/spyware and an anti virus software.

    That is how I got best results i.e security. I use No Adware and McAfee and Win XP firewall protection is always ON.

  17. I am one of those unfortunate souls that had already done what this article mentions before reading it and it has not worked. My computer has been “posessed” or what is better known as “hijacked” by techs.  I cannot get on the internet at all without it directing me somewhere else and the speed is simply a crawl. I am frustrated and will be reformatting it shortly. Thank God that it’s backed up!

  19. My laptop got infections after some popup & upgrade FireFox browser from ver 3.0.13 to 3.5.3.
    Firefox keep crack every times open. I ran Malwarebytes Anti Malware. It was caught a few virus. After remove, Firefox no more crash. But here come the other problem. Most of the website that I can not using yahoo search browser. Can’t open yahoo mail at Firefox browser (only go to classic mode). Can’t not open Gmail.com website at all. Always redirect to the another weird website.Below are some of error messages that I got.
    Anyone seen or have any experience with this problem. Please help

    PS:Only happen on Laptop, Desktop work fine. Same next work were using.
