How To Make Gmail Your Email Hub
You’re probably like many people and have multiple email addresses on your desktop or notebook computer. A Yahoo! Mail account here, a Hotmail account there, maybe one from your ISP or your personal Web domain. And you undoubtedly know how frustrating and time consuming it can be trying to access all of your different email accounts—you jump around the Web, dealing with multiple passwords and Web sites.

Enjoyed the Tech Tip… What is advantage of GMail hub vs. Outlook? I have all my POP email accounts on Outlook and can use any to send mail. Only advantage I see using Gmail as hub is accessing email via web when out of town and no laptop… I use my laptop w/Outlook to do this now… If I have web access, I have email access.
This was a great tech tip. I have been trying to figure out how to consolidate my email addresses. Thanks a million
Iam running Vista Ultimate
I tried to set up a Hotmail account utilizing my Gmail as my email hub.
All I get is this “ There was a problem connecting to mail.hotmail.com
Please contact Microsoft’s support team for more information on POP access.”
Can anyone help?
ThanksGreat piece. Thanks from your friends @ http://www.askTheAdmin.com
I use AIM mail because it has IMAP and I can use my Mail Client to instantly reflect all mail reading and sorting on their server. I simply point my other mail accounts (incl. GMail) to forward to my AIM Mail Acct., and let IMAP do all the work no matter where I am!!
Also using Hotmail and there is no way Hotmail will allow you out of there system, sorry Gmail users.
I have been using POP Peeper to do that for
years. It notifies me on my desktop and I have had no problems with it at all. I also do not need to login to gmail to get my mail. While a bunch of us Geeks may already have another solution this is the type of tip that is needed by 98% of the users out there.
The tip is clear, well written and useful.
Keep up the good work.

From the information you provided I believe you are correct. If you have your laptop I don’t see why Outlook can not get the job done?
Do you have other email accounts you are also dealing with?

I’m using 2 POP3 emails with my web server (rwrmarketing.com) and 1 email with my ISP (Roadrunner). On my laptop, I have all 3 setup to check email but leave on server - that way my office computer will still receive the mail (and remove from servers).I use Outlook 2003 on main computer and Outlook 2007 on laptop. I recently opened a Gmail account and am using it for archiving key emails (I forward important emails to GMail)… Still testing the Gmail waters - so found this HUB tip interesting…
-BobI check my email only online and it is really tiresome to login and logout every time i want to check different email boxes, one is for work and the other is my personal.
The only solution that i have found to this problem until now was that i have notifier for one mail whil the other email is open. Thanks to your great tutorial, it made me easier to access my 15 email accounts.
Thank you…Glad the info was helpful John.
If anyone has any other suggestions for future Tech Tips please email them over to me.

Glad you all enjoyed my post. This strategy was borne out of many years of consulting, having moved many times and lost contacts, Docs, Pics - etc.. So I was in a mind to become machine (computer) independent. Yahoo and Google have enabled me to do this finally - so finally as an everday internet user I am now thanks to the previous Co’s a Cloud Computing User!! Nothing is stored on my computer, thanks to all those servers out there!! Don’t carry any USB storage devices, just need my passwords and random number generator!! Free yourself from a specific machine and relax!! And use Linux and Firefox to access it all
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing this great article! That is very interesting smile I love reading and I am always searching for informative information like this! You are bookmarked!
Thx.
