Installing a Power Supply
Installing a power supply is not a hard job. However, a new geek can be intimidated the first time they open a case and see the mass of wires and ominous-looking components. If you follow these simple steps, you can replace your power supply unit (PSU) in no time and with little effort. It is also important to note before we get started that a computer PSU stores power even when unplugged and you should never open the case of the PSU itself.

Dual-fan psu-sli ready item # PS575XBK. will it be compatible with my system?Hello, the only thing i would add as it just happened to me is a new power supply can also be bad and one of the first ways to check it is to see if it even turns on it’s own fans. Mine was totally dead and that sucks as it fits the case perfectly and i tryed different plug ins also but all was a waste. Thanks
Hi
My brothers computer has packed in and he has been told it is the power unit. I have a spare power unit which I am sending him, but he is no computer geek. I am a semi geek but have never changed a power unit. My question is this. The spare unit I have does not have an eight pin connector to the mother board. They are all four pin. The connections are numbered one to ten. How do I tell him which ones to connect to the mother board. Is it P1 and P2 or what??
Help
