  1. What about trackballs?

I find them much handier to use.

  3. Dear Sir,
Is it not compulsory that keyboards should have visual indicators for “ Caps Lock, Scroll Lock & Num Lock “. Please reply.

  7. This article on keyboards failed to mention if it was possible to buy, and where to buy, a tactile keyboard. My hands tremble (age 85 going on 45) which frequently press the wrong keys when typing. I could type 56 words per minute previously but now have to use the hunt and peck system. I need a keyboard that requires me to press the keys relatively hard to type which would solve my situation.  Also, some mouse ads designate speeds. What speed is required?
FYI: I’ve upgraded and repaired approx. 50 computers and given them to the needy. Many, many, parts I have ordered from Geeks. Also your informative articles need a “print” notation so don’t have to print all the advertisements and save ink and pages of paper. As WWII Marines I trained at San Diego and my only brother trained there at Oceanside. He was killed at Iwo Jima, earned 2 purple hearts and Silver Star. At Tinian Island, where the planes took off from to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki, he single handedly rescued 4 wounded Marines who were pinned down by Jap rifle fire and was wounded in the process. Incidently, the Iwo Jima Veterans had what was probably their last reunion here at Pampa, Texas this weekend due to the small number left and the inability to travel.Thanks.

  9. @Tom - I love trackballs myself!

@Sindhu - No, I have never heard that keyboards NEEDED to have visual indicators for “Caps Lock, Scroll Lock & Num Lock”.

@XAOS - are you referring to the second image down in the post?

@Jack - I am not sure about this one.  I am sure a quick search at Google or Bing will get you your desired answer.

  15. This is a good article in that it at least shows that there is a pretty big variety of keyboards and mice available.  Actually I think its important to think of these peripherals more in how you’ll use them and less about the features they have.  For example, I have a wireless mini keyboard & mouse for my laptop when connected to a monitor, and another keyboard/mouse combination for my desktop at home and at work.  Each does something different, with the one at home being more media oriented.

  17. If the peripheral devices require a lot of power and the hub is powered,i would use them on the hub and keep the relatively low power consuming devices on the computer.
