Recycling e-waste
More than 1.5 million tons of e-waste—TVs, computer monitors, desktop computers, cell phones, batteries etc., are thrown into landfills and incinerators around the United States every year. These electronic computer parts contain toxic materials such as lead, mercury, and cadmium. Did you know that a typical 17-inch computer monitor contains about 2.2 pounds of lead and a 27-inch television could produce as much as 8 pounds? As a result, the toxins are released into the air and water, making e-waste a public health issue as well an environmental one. Beryllium is commonly found on motherboards and connectors and is a known human carcinogen.

I applaud your even-handedness. While it’s obvious global warming hysteria has become the mantra of the greens and Gorons at least you guys are fair enough to admit there might be reasonable debate. I also agree recycling electronic waste is absolutely necessary. Global warming - maybe...maybe not. But there is nothing to dispute about the heavy metal waste from electronics.
It is really a nice post!
We all should appreciate it…Yeah, I guess it is “populist crap”, if by “populist” you mean the 6.5 billion people populating this planet and by “crap” you mean “stuff we all need to do to stop slowly poisoning ourselves.”
Stick your head in the sand and ignore human-induced climate change if you need to to get by (it is scary as hell), but to pretend that burying poisonous metals in the ground isn’t problematic at best is pretty much the definition of depraved indifference.
It’s truly sickening how much e-waste is out there, and I found that one great way to combat this problem is look for help through a greener PC company called Userful. What’s great about them is they actually re-use a single existing PC to power up to 10 workstations at once saving energy and reducing e-waste. I’m incredibly satisfied with what they offer, and I think it’s something everybody should check out to help combat this problem of e-waste – http://www.userful.com
I’m all for saving energy to save money. However, I don’t agree with these scientist that have been recently shown to be in it for the money. Who knows if any of this global warming data is true?
I read all of the article and i am really impressed after reading it.Different sort of waste are making this world like hell.I knew many new things from your article.Best wishes to you.
