Chances are you use at least one Web-based application. Don’t be afraid to admit that applications like Gmail, Bloglines, Facebook, or Twitter are bookmarked in your Web browser and that you use them several times a day. And you can’t deny that these applications—which range from social networking tools to office suites to email to wikis—are immensely popular and incredibly useful.

Of course, getting to those applications means launching a browser, navigating to a URL, and logging in. If you’re still doing that, then maybe you’re doing things the wrong way. A better way is to put those applications on your desktop with Prism.

  1. Mr. Nesbitt,

I generally read the tech-tips when it about something I’m unfamiliar with.  I have never hear about prism until now.
I consider myself to be a fairly good and average geek.  I find that most geeks want to be in control over their equipment. Removing the clutter as you put it removes my control over the browser.  If I don’t have two or three seconds more to load a page. I better make more room in my planner.
Second of all, I have no problem dealing with ads in a page. It’s like talking to your friend in a crowded place. You focus on your friend and you can pretty much have a conversation. You know there are other voices, but your friends voice is what you hear. Same way with reading. You can make 80% of the page ads, and I’ll still be able to read my email. And still get the service for free. Free is for me.
IF you are into such things as, my machine can load faster or my machine can do this or that better then yours, have fun with it.  A great man told me once that each computer user is different, just fix their problems and they will pay you for it. It’s a credo I live by. Just a humble view by a humble man. As always, take care and be safe

  11. Some of the links in this emailed article are bad.  Starting with: “Note: You can find a list of the current bugs in Prism here”, and the links in the “Doing It from Firefox” area are bad.  They are all “file://localhost/"[whatever].  What are the correct URL’s?
