  1. IMO, while a nice feature, this is a last gasp by Real Player.  If you use Firefox (as you should) there’s an add-on (extension) called flashgot that works great for the same purpose and you don’t have to muck up your load of windows with yet another media player.

  3. Ya I was quite supprised by the new options and conversions it now has. No more problems converting some unknown video format to something you are fimalure with or one that your favorite app has to use to create that video. Great Working Program my hat is off to the programers.

  5. Are you guys paid to advertise Real player?  There are so much better programs out there for doing this; ones that don’t bring malware like Real player!

  9. I’m sure this program is very useful but Real Network programs act a lot like viruses in my experience that’s why I no longer trust them. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

  11. Real Player?  Really?  The thing is like a cleverly concealed piece of malware.

  13. @Ari - We definitely do not get subsidized or receive any payment in any form from Real Player.

If we had been paid, you would see a full disclosure statement somewhere within the post.

We do everything here at Geeks.com strictly by the book!!

    We do appreciate the feedback.

  17. Hello All!  Thanks for the feedback.

While I did try to dispel the notion that Real Player isn’t as obnoxious as it used to be, apparently I didn’t do that well enough.  This version of Real Player is NOT the version that you may have seen five years ago (which I truly loathed). It is a much sleeker version that doesn’t worm itself into your system like the previous versions did. Plus, with its simple, easy to use flash download feature that is not only cross-platform but cross-browser friendly it is a much more elegant, simple to use solution than a simple plug-in for a certain browser.

All it all, Real Networks did their player proud - and in the words of one famous commercial: “This in not your father’s Oldsmob..”, er, Real Player.

PS - Sparkyo - good point!  I’ll be sure to add that to future images that I supply for articles.

  19. I followed your suggestion and download the RealPlayer SP.

I copy video clips from YouTube. They were stored in RealPlayer downloader.

When I tried to play the downloaded clip, the RealPlayer show nothing, no audio or video.

Please advise me what was wrong.

Thank you very much for the wonderful tech tips.

    Richard

  21. Not sure about anyone else, but I have never had much luck downloading Real Player.  It always seems to get flagged as dangerous on my system.  Are there any other viewers that have the same features?
