  1. I have a blog that I’ve kept up for awhile now at Diaryland. I found that the single largest obstacle was lack of custom graphics and not the code. Sure I could find pictures but ones that fit my theme with buttons and bars and moseover’s that all matched were almost impossible to find and legally use. How about telling us about some free graphic programs and while you’re at it some good free banner software for those that can’t afford 100’s on commercial graphic’s software.

    http://www.1000apps.com

I’m sure you can find more with a couple Google searches.

Be aware! Some shareware apps include viruses and other tracking crud that could drop down the performance of your machine.

But yes it is almost impossible to find custom stuff for free. Unless you know a designer that you can bribe with cookies or beer.

But you don’t have to go out and buy the latest adobe/macromedia software. A quick ebay or craigslist search could get you a sweet deal on older versions of the same thousand dollar applications.

There is not a huge difference the the “basic user” would See between Dreamweaver-3 and and the newer 8 or MX package. If your just learning, older application are the way to go. You can pick them up cheap from the web, friends, or even the swap meet. And you not out a ton of cash if that’s not what you were looking for.

So ask around to all your friends. Allot of time they bundle software with things like scanners that Include Photoshop deluxe and other apps that you might find useful.
