  1. Those methods to boost wireless network speed and coverage have worked wonders for me.  Probably the most effective way I try to use is upgrading old wireless routers and devices over to wireless N, but I also keep a stockpile of wireless antennas that work well.

  9. One small quibble: Speaking about wireless routers, you wrote”...That said, not all routers have antennas.”

I think perhaps you misspoke, slightly. You obviously meant something like, “Not all routers have easily accessible antennas.” ALL wireless-capable routers have antennas, but some, like many Netgear wireless routers, use internal antennas, usually more than two.

    Aside from that, spot on!

  11. Am very interested in tweaking my router to try and get some more speed but don’t know where to start.  my system was set up by AT&T;and is the UVerse system.  My phone, tv and internet in the house depends on the ability of this router to function correctly.  Do I go to the manufacturer of the router to find updates to the software etc?  Is this an easy thing to do?

  15. Thanks for the tips.  Always frustrating when the products we own don’t produce the way we expect them to perform.

  17. If you are really needing a wireless connection boast, fix a “dish” to your receiver (i.e., a metal mixing bowl works great; put the receiving antenna at the center of focus for the bowl & mount the bowl near the PC).
