Taking a Breath of Adobe AIR
One of the holy grails of software development has been to write applications that run on just about any operating system. This is called write once, run anywhere. The Java programming language tried, and almost succeeded. Almost. But the true grail is yet to be found. There’s nothing worse than being a Windows user who sees a really nifty app for the Mac and finds out that there’s no Windows version of it, and that there are no plans for one either.
Web comes close, and a previous TechTip looked at a way of bringing Web apps to your desktop computer. But, let’s face it: the Web’s not quite the desktop. That’s where Adobe AIR comes in.

This a good tool if you are using the eBay desktop,I was having trouble with the desktop app.it ran very slow and it would’nt go to the different area’s,so I did the norm uninstall and reinstall,then I saw a little artical on Air and installed it and my eBay desktop runs faster and I have’nt had any more trouble with it,if any program says they need the Air app.I would strongly suggest the use of it.If anything Download and save the App from here just in case.Sorry I could’nt add something brand new other than it does what it says it’ll do...Thanks...Joe
Adobe officially released AIR 1.0 this morning along with Flex 3, enabling web developers to take their code and turn it into desktop apps without having to start from scratch. Adobe said that it plans to continue porting its own apps online too, while creating AIR versions to use on the desktop.
The first public beta of the run time was released on June 11, 2007, with the second public beta following on October 1, 2007. Although, it hasn’t been with us for very long, organizations such as AOL, NASDAQ and eBay are already began using it.

I am looking at developing applications for cell phones, web, and desktops? I like adobe products and thats what I want to use for my platform.
