Windows Media Center – Making the PC Cool Again
Windows Media Center is one of those programs that has been around for a while but doesn’t seem to get much notice. Built into most versions of Windows since Vista, but often neglected by a large segment of the computing public. In this Tech Tip, we hope to open your eyes and look at some of the cool things that you can do with Windows Media Center. While this will not be all inclusive (for that, you can always visit the official Media Center website), it is meant to give an overview of some of the cooler aspects. Please note that we’ll be concentrating on the version of Media Center found in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

I agree, i been using WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER
for years and when i mention it to most of my
friends, the have no interest on it,i use it to
record my favorite programs and share movies
and share my daughters favorite cartoons, is
about time people realize what a great tool

Brooklyn, NY.Perhaps you should also make users aware that Windows Media Center sends data back to Microsoft about the media played.
Some people might find this violation of privacy by Microsoft incentive enough to use other software (that is often free).
What amazing me more than anything, is while there is so much emphasis on HD, plasma, 3Dtv and all of this ‘getting the best picture possible’, that so many are watching low quality movies through Netflix, low quality youtube, low quality internet tv and such through their laptop connected to their television.
Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player Are both resource hogs, You can’t multitask with them without getting serve lagg from them, At idle Windows Media Center uses atlease 50% cpu and almost a gig of ram. So if you want a media Player, use winamp it’s small light and has almost everything wmc has

yeah that’s a very good idea of watching TV through Internet… i would definitely try browsing through windows media center and connect it to my 42’’ LCD TV.....
Yeh windows media centre is awesome, but i’d still like to see some more features. I wish people would just let microsoft get on with what they do best and stop letting pretenders in on the game.
