WordPress - BLOGGING POWERHOUSE
Blogging has come a long way since we first talked about it back in 2006 with Tech Tips 61-64. What started out more as a personal journal has morphed into a professional/business, media/journalism tool. Now, organizations like the New York Times and MTV use blog software to power the “Comments” sections and more on their web sites. Media outlets like CNN, MSNBC and Fox News have editorial blogs. No doubt your own hometown newspaper’s online version utilizes some form of blog software as well.

good article. Though I currently use iWeb through hostmonster, this is a good overview of Wordpress. Much appreciated.Had I read this a year ago I might have been persuaded to go with Wordpress as it does offer more options than iWeb.

Nice overview of WordPress. I especially appreciate the section COM or ORG--I find myself explaining quite often to my clients the difference between what they can do with their WordPress.com account and blog, versus what they can do with “their own” WordPress install.
I’m curious, however, why you noted FileZilla as a fee-based FTP program? FileZilla is my FTP client of choice, and to my knowledge is open source software distributed free of charge under the GNU General Public License. In fact, their website promotes FileZilla as “the free FTP solution.”
